My journey from Pharmacovigilance to Clinical Development

Gnana T

I started my career in safety pharmacovigilance as drug safety specialist in US. I worked as safety specialist and senior for 8 years. I realized that I had reached saturation with PV and my opportunities to grow were very limited. This made me look for other options. I was seriously trying for my career transition and the opportunities seemed very vague with my limited knowledge about branches within the pharmaceutical industry. I was depressed and not happy with my job that was working. I failed in many interviews while I was trying for higher positions. I was demotivated and not feeling good and was worried that the experience I gained so far was of no use in getting me higher positions. I realized I was lacking something, just did not know what it was.

After a few months of trying and not succeeding , My husband recommended a career coach. That is how I came to know about Excel Career Services. I spoke to the coach there and that was a new beginning for me. I had an initial conversation where the coach suggested a plan that comprised of a course, resume make over and interview preparation. The entire plan sounded really interesting and I realized I wanted to transition to clinical development when I had the initial call with the coach. I immediately started the course in ECS and the rest is history. I ended up getting a clinical scientist position within a few months, I was so happy and felt confident.

ECS trains in such a way that candidates feel confident and know what they have to study and how they have prepare for interviews. The assignments at ECS really help one face the real industry challenges. After training with ECS, I cracked the interview in the first time itself without the completion of full course. I gained lot of knowledge and industrial experience in medical review listings, data review, data cleaning, clinical development activities like protocol writing, review clinical documents. With the help of mock interviews in ECS, the real industry interviews whether technical or behavioral rounds are easy to handle. They really provide you the insight of the background that a person should have to work as a clinical scientist. Choosing clinical research scientist course at ECS is the best thing I did for my career development. ECS is a very good platform for people with interest in clinical research and specially clinical development. They are very supportive and their idea is to help as many candidates they can to learn more about clinical development and successfully transition into a clinical scientist role. The subject knowledge of trainers is amazing and culture supports people to learn and grow. I highly recommend ECS to anyone who wants to learn and grow in clinical development . I am sure ECS will train many candidates and give a great platform for many more people to get into clinical development and succeed.
